Local foodservice provider fuels runners in the Slough Half Marathon

Last weekend, local foodservice provider, Bidfood in Slough, worked with the Slough Borough Council to sponsor their annual Slough Half Marathon. Chris Walkden and his team in Slough supported the half marathon by providing fuel for the runners during their race, along with lunch for the hard working volunteers on the day. Bidfood in Slough donated an array of products to support the dedicated runners and volunteers. These included some of their own brand ranges, such as their new juice brand Orchard Grove, and their Coronet white cheddar cheese snacks; along with an energy-boosting cereal bar and sports drink to help keep the runners sustained during the race. The Slough Half Marathon witnessed over 750 participants coming together to run for various charities and worthy causes.  It also saw over 200 enthusiastic volunteers who took time out of their weekend, to give back to this initiative and support their community. Talking about the donation, Chris Walkden, General Manager, at Bidfood in Slough, said: “We are constantly looking at ways we can get involved with our local community and help out where we can, so this was a great opportunity to get involved.” “We have been working with the Slough Business Community Partnership over the last year on various local initiatives such as our Volunteer’s Week in June, so we were delighted when they told us that the local council had asked for help in supporting the October half marathon. Discussing the initiative, Councillor Rob Anderson, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “This fantastic sporting event showcases our borough and promotes the town as a thriving centre for business and community. “The Slough Half Marathon has greatly benefitted from the generosity of Bidfood. Their kind donation has helped us to deliver this highly anticipated race, by providing nutritious lunch bags to all our kind volunteers and fuel for our 750 runners.”
