Ingredients
Hot cross buns | 700g |
Butter | 80g |
Caster sugar | 70g |
Everyday Favourites free range medium eggs | 6 |
Semi skimmed milk | 700ml |
Oranges | 3 |
Milk chocolate | 80g |
Custard | 1kg |
Thin cut orange marmalade | 100g |
Icing sugar | 50g |
Method
- Take the hot cross bun, slice in half, melt the butter and spread on one side of the bun.
- Add the sugar, eggs, milk and the zest and juice of 3 oranges and whisk together.
- In an oven proof dish layer the hot cross bun and chocolate callets.
- Then pour the egg mix over the buns and bake for 45 - 50 minutes on 140°c.
- Heat the custard and mix through the 80ml of the Marmalade.
- Take out of oven when it has reached the correct core temperature of 75°c. Warm 20ml marmalade and glaze the top.
- Serve with a dusting of icing sugar and custard.
